The Art of Self Care Retreat

Stress and the push to over-achieve in our culture can reduce our ability to be productive and create an undertone of ‘not good enough’ in our lives (even when we’ve accomplished a great deal). We expect to be able to do it all – successful career, generous family care-giver, fit and beautiful, joyful and happy. Our high expectations of ourselves combined with the daily stresses of our world can leave us feeling fatigued and depleted.

The practices in the Art of Self-Care result in greater vitality, productivity, confidence and joy. In this weekend retreat we connect with the natural world, our highest selves and community to remember how to effectively care for our bodies and minds. We focus on redefining self-care beyond the stereotypical bubble bath or spa treatment to small yet potent choices we make on a daily basis. Self-care doesn’t have to be all about sitting still, it can be adventurous and fun.

Anna and Sommerville incorporate their respective knowledge and expertise in Ayurvedic wellness principles, yoga, mindfulness/meditation, mental health,

 and nervous system regulation to increase resilience and capacity for both the challenging and the joyful aspects of life. This is a nurturing weekend for adventurous, high performing women seeking greater vitality, fulfillment and stress management in their daily life.

Winter (November 9 – 11, 2018)

  • Stoking our digestive fire through food, movement, breath and daily routine for increased vitality and immunity throughout the fall/winter season.
  • Mindfulness and meditation for grounding our bodies and calming the anxious mind.
  • Ayurvedic strategies on counteracting the variable, rough and dry qualities of fall and early winter season.
  • Natural movement via yoga and walking in the woods to stimulate warmth, digestion and energy.
  • Increased understanding of our nervous system to minimize shame, guilt and drama, and increase self-acceptance.
  • Root yourself in nourishment in preparation for the busy Holiday Season.
  • Learn to live with power and confidence everyday.

Winter Retreat Schedule: Friday arrive between 5 and 6 p.m. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Opening Circle 7 – 9 p.m. Saturday pre-breakfast yoga at 7 – 8 a.m. breakfast 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Programming from 9:30 a.m. – noon. Lunch 12:30 – 2 p.m. Programming from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Dinner 6:30 p.m. Camp Fire after dinner! Sunday pre-breakfast yoga at 7 – 8 a.m. breakfast 8:30 a.m. Programming 8:30 a.m. – noon, lunch 12:30 – 2 p.m. Programming 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
