Beginner/Intermediate Whitewater Kayaking Weekend

Girls At Play 2 day Beginner/ Intermediate Kayak Courses are designed to help you take the next step in building your confidence on the water. We offer a fun and supportive environment that provides the space for you to grow and stretch your skills through curriculum that is deigned by and for women. We also keep our class sizes small so that students receive the individualized attention that is so important to building a strong foundation, both physically and mentally. Join us to experience the adventure, excitement and transformative power of whitewater kayaking!

Sample 2 Day Itinerary

Day 1

8:30 a.m. | Meet/Greet at French Broad Outfitters 704 Riverside Dr

9:00 a.m. | Paddle strokes, wet exits and roll instruction at Fishtop on the Lower Green River

12:30 p.m. | Lunch on the beach: Enjoy a delicious and healthy organic lunch made locally

1:30 p.m. | Peel outs, eddy outs and ferries while running the Lower Green River

4:00 p.m. | Off the water, load boats and gear and head back to FBO

5:00 p.m. | On your own for dinner and rejuvenation for another awesome day on the river

Day 2

8:30 a.m. | Meet at FBO 704 Riverside Dr

8:45 a.m. | Load up cars & drive to the Tuckaseegee River

10:00 a.m. | Unload, drive shuttle & gear up. We then put on the river, starting the day with a review of strokes & skills in the flat pool at the put-in. Then head downstream, reviewing our skills and learning new ones.

1 p.m. | Lunch on the river: Another delicious and healthy locally made creation

3:30 p.m. | Off the river: Load up boats, pack up, and drive back to FBO

5:00 p.m. | Wrap it up and say goodbyes

Cost includes the unique Girls at Play whitewater experience with our amazing kayak instructors*, tasty organic lunches and transport to and from the river. We base out of Asheville, NC. You are responsible for your own accommodations – we recommend doing a Google search to find the type of accommodation that fits your needs and budget. We meet at French Broad Outfitters and that address is 704 Riverside Dr. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to send us an email.

This clinic is geared toward women who have some whitewater kayak experience as well as women who are new to the sport. Because some women who have experience may already have all of their gear, the $225 is a base price. If you are new to the sport and don’t yet have your own gear then please select the $60 gear rental fee at check out. Thank you!

*Our kayak instructors are all certified American Canoe Association Whitewater Kayak Instructors, are certified in Swiftwater Rescue and are certified with a minimum of Wilderness First Aid.

Cancellation Policy:  A minimum of 50% deposit is required to book your spot. The balance is due 30 days before the start of the course. If you cancel 30 + days before the class your deposit is refundable minus a $150 booking fee. If you cancel within 30 days of the class your deposit is non-refundable and may be put toward another class. There is no refund given once the course has started.
