Yoga for Paddling Workshops with Anna Levesque

These workshops are designed to bring heightened awareness to our paddling muscles for injury prevention, pain reduction, 537570_10151338037673061_2072653031_nincreased comfort and better paddling performance. Based on the information written in her recently published book Yoga for Paddling, Anna will guide you on how to stretch the muscles that we over-use and strengthen the muscles that we under-use in paddling (regardless of whether you paddle a kayak, canoe or SUP).  Each session will be spent practicing yoga as well as learning the anatomy and body mechanics of paddling and alignment.

In the afternoon we’ll head to a very friendly section of the French Broad River through Asheville where we can integrate what we learn in yoga class into our paddling skills.

At the end of the workshop you’ll have an in-depth knowledge of paddling anatomy, how you can prevent common paddling injuries, reduce pain and be familiar with yoga poses that you can practice at home. Stress management techniques that you can use on and off the water will also be part of the workshop.  This workshop is open to both men and women.  All levels – no previous yoga experience necessary. Please come as you are!!

There are 2 day options and 1 day options available for this workshop. The difference is that the 1-day option will be condensed and less thorough, but still valuable for those who have less time available or who want to check out what Yoga for Paddling is all about without a 2-day time commitment.

"I went to Anna with feelings of anxiety, frustration, depression and fatigue – I felt sort of "stuck" and rudderless.  My Ayurveda consult was thorough, insightful, and nurturing.  Anna provided me with a number of specific suggestions for diet and lifestyle changes, and some simple routines to incorporate into my life  – not radical changes, but small modifications and additions I actually could DO. This, in itself, was empowering.  A number of Anna’s suggestions have proved to work very well for me and are bringing the balance and focus back into my life.”  - Dee, Plant Biologist, Paddling Enthusiast,VA
